A study on etiological profile of acute kidney failure in neonates admitted to neonatal intensive care unit at a tertiary care centre

Introduction: Acute kidney failure (AKF) / injury (AKI) Is defined as sudden deterioration in function that leads to the accumulation of nitrogenous waste products (e.g.urea) and alters regulation extra cellular fluid volume, electrolyte acid-base homeostasis. Renal dysfunction due acute is common high-risk newborn babies its incidence varies depending upon criteria used for diagnosis. Materials Methods: A 18 months study involving all those neonates who admitted NICU, GGH Kurnool with manifestations injury. The population comprised suspected or diagnosed AKF were per inclusion exclusion criteria’s mentioned earlier Govt General Hospital, between time period from 2019 2021. detailed birth history resuscitation, maternal was recorded precoded proforma available. All inborn deliveries attended by pediatric resident. Gestational age assessed Modified Ballard scoring system. physical examination baby at admission proforma. Sarnat classification HIE. Results: Among 100 67 (67%) male, 33 (33%) female.
